Fault Metaphors

November 23, 2013 – January 12, 2014

AT THE COLLABORATIVE: A PROJECT OF THE ARTS COUNCIL FOR LONG BEACH AND THE MUSEUM OF LATIN AMERICAN ART

Fault Metaphors articulates two views of the city of Tijuana developed by artists Mónica Arreola and Omar Pimienta. The metaphor of failure is illustrated by the dystopia that Tijuana, as other cities in Latin America, represents in terms of social and urban issues. The proposals by these two artists are based on poetic distancing and refer to issues such as immigration, the neglect of the Mexican State in relationship to projects of social housing and the immigration crisis that Mexico suffers.
This exhibition has been curated by Abril Castro and Felipe Zúñiga

The Collaborative Location: 421 W. Broadway Ave., Long Beach, CA 90802
